Once the check has been completed, you must pick up the form from the police and bring the original to Human Resources. At that point you will be advised of your eligibility to work in Yukon schools.
A criminal record check is valid for two years from the date that the police verify the search. You are expected to maintain this condition of employment, even if your current criminal record check expires in the middle of a school year.
Please note that a full day will show as 5.00 hours on pay advice forms, as substitute personnel are paid by the day, not the hour.
If you do not have a teaching certificate or a Bachelor’s degree, you may still apply to work in classrooms as substitute personnel. The basic pay rate is $133.26 per day as a Category 1 substitute.
If you hold a Bachelor’s degree, you may qualify as a Category 2 substitute and earn $164.23 per day. You will have to provide a copy of your transcripts showing the degree has been conferred. Your Category 2 rate takes effect on the date we receive your transcripts. A Category 1 pay rate applies until the day we receive your transcripts. The rate is not retroactive to your first day of work.
Certified teachers are referred to as Category 3 substitute teachers and earn $214.15 per day. To qualify, please upload one of the following to your profile

If you were a student in a Yukon school in the last five years, you must provide a written reference from the principal of that school prior to being hired.
