Print Version: Full-time studies ![]()
Date Approved: June 28, 2007
LEGAL REFERENCE:
Section 1 of the Students Financial Assistance Act, Student Grant Regulations ![]()
POLICY:
The Regulations state an “approved program of studies” means a full-time post-secondary program of a minimum of 12 weeks’ duration. This policy provides clarification of full-time in the Regulations.
Generally, institutions consider a student taking 60% of a full-course load to be a full-time student. This allows students the ability to take additional upgrading or pre-requisite courses while still being considered a full-time student. As well, most institutions have a policy for students with disabilities to be enrolled in a 40% course load and still be considered full-time.
GUIDELINES:
Students must be enrolled in a program of studies that leads to a certificate, diploma or degree.
Students must meet the institutional definition of full-time post-secondary student status in order to be eligible to receive the Yukon Grant.
APPEALS:
The Students Financial Assistance Committee will hear all appeals that do not conform with this policy.
