Learning Together

Learning Together is a free drop-in program for children under 5 years of age and their caregivers. Led by qualified Yukon teachers, the program helps prepare children for school routines. Caregivers learn how to support children’s learning at home.

Younger brothers and sisters are welcome.

  • Playtime: playing with learning toys, puppets and costumes, puzzles and blocks, sand and water.
  • Group snack: Children wash their hands, help set the table, enjoy a group snack prepared by the adults and wash their dishes.
  • Circle time: The teacher leads activities such as yoga, poems, stories, rhymes, music, movement and games.
  • Craft time: Children and adults work on crafts based on circle time and the monthly theme.
  • Visits to the gym and library.
  • Visits from Child Development Centre staff, preschool dental therapists, local artists and other guests related to monthly themes.

“I really appreciated the great diversity of activities and toys for the kids. New items were added throughout the year so there was always new stimulation. To have such a fantastic program that is free is invaluable!!”
