Environmental Technician

The environmental technician will work with company biologists and environmental scientists to complete a variety of field and office-based projects in the disciplines of biology, habitat restoration, water quality, site assessment, environmental assessment or planning. This may include work in the office and in the field to perform tasks such as planning field studies, mobilizing equipment, collecting data, performing literature searches, entering and/or analyzing data, collecting samples, and contributing to reports or documents. The incumbent may work on projects related to fish and aquatic habitat, wildlife, vegetation, water quality, and other environmental disciplines. Typical projects that the environmental technician may be involved in could include environmental baseline studies, fish or wildlife monitoring studies, permit applications, site investigation, water monitoring, or restoration projects. Travel to field sites will be a common part of the job, generally for several days to one week duration, but potentially up to two weeks. All required safety training, guidance, or equipment will be provided.

Field of study:
Completion of third year or higher in Biology OR Environmental Science OR Restoration

Conditions of employment:
Driver’s license, travel, shiftwork/weekends, first aid/CPR. Safety gear and PPE will be supplied. Heavy lifting and work under difficult conditions will be required. External training can be provided where required (e.g., first aid, Bear Aware)

Adventure Camp Coordinator

Equinox Adventure Camp runs Monday to Friday for children and youth aged 5-16. Activities include canoeing, kayaking, rock climbing, zip line, outdoor skills, raft building, river trips and overnight camping experiences.
The Adventure Camp Coordinator works weekdays from 8:30-4:30 and is responsible for the day-to-day operations of our camp. This includes registering campers, communicating with parents, training, supervising and supporting our 2 to 4 Day Camp Leaders, teaching activities, working directly with the campers, and ensuring a high level of safety and professionalism is maintained in all aspects of camp.
The Adventure Camp Coordinator must have experience working with children, be organized and have good communication skills. They must have or be willing to get a first aid certificate. Other related certifications are desirable.

The primary focus of this student position is to gain experience through assisting our existing technical staff and project managers with the delivery of a broad variety of tasks and environmental project coordination.
Our summer practicum will provide the opportunity for the successful student to participate in a diversity of roles including: ecological and socio-economic studies, consultation support, project logistics, environmental monitoring, site investigations and remediation programs across a wide variety of project types. Breakdance Camp Counselor
Leaping Feats Creative Danceworks

The breakdance camp counselor will work under the direction of the camp leader to plan summer camp activities, execute the curriculum for the camps, which includes dance classes and video production, short showcases of the cumulative technique and choreography training over the weeks and appropriate indoor/outdoor activities (crafts and creative art projects).  The counsellor will instruct camps in two Yukon communities (location to be determined) and 8 one-week camps in Whitehorse. Duties will include dance choreography, managing dance choreography, dance instruction, instruction in specific crafts and physical recreational activities. It will also involve collaborating with local and visiting artists to create and present a performance for the public at the Yukon Arts Center.

Production Manager
Leaping Feats Creative Danceworks

The Production Manager will be working closely with the choreographer and artistic director of CypherFest, a four day hip hop festival held at the Yukon Arts Centre and the Warf. This festival will be a fully produced dance battle and show in July 2018. The Production Manager will be in charge of all the technical and logistical elements of the show such as the lighting, costume, set and sound design, along with the video projections and the stage manager. They will work closely with the Arts Administrator to schedule rehearsal times and at both Leaping Feats and the Yukon Arts Centre, and communicate with all the dancers and artists involved with the shows and festival.

LDAY Camp Raven Director
LDAY Centre for Learning

The Camp Director will plan, organize and promote four, two week day camps for 6 to 14-year-olds with learning difficulties. The director will plan activities, organize staff training, track camp registrations, solicit donations, marshall equipment and supplies, and keep track of expenditures. Responsibilities include working cooperatively with camp staff to deliver programming and ensure the safety and well-being of campers. The director will drive a camp van will be required to participate in overnight camp outs. The director will also write a final report and help clean up and organize supplies at the end of the summer.
