Experience and Qualifications :

-Bachelor of Education degree from a recognized university with a specialization in Special Education or related field;

-Class 4 Yukon Drivers license or willingness to obtain;

-Current First Aid training and Prevention and Management of Assaultive Behaviour or willingness to obtain;

-Demonstrated success working with secondary students who have diverse learning abilities;

-Demonstrated success facilitating learning opportunities to maximize student potential;

-Ability to plan and implement integration of students into the appropriate school environment;

-Demonstrated success coordinating a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team to develop, implement and evaluate appropriate Individual Education Plans (IEPs);

-Ability to include and support Educational Assistants in the implementation of Individual Education Plans;

-Demonstrated success working collaboratively with students, parents, consultants, staff and

community services to plan and implement the transition leaving school to adulthood;

-Successful teaching in a cross-cultural setting with a knowledge of and sensitivity to the traditions and aspirations of First Nation students.

Note: This is a temporary teaching position for the 2008/09 school year.
