Experience and Qualifications :

- Bachelor of Education degree with a specialty in Science and training in Outdoor Education;

- a proven record of successful teaching experience in a secondary school outdoor education program;

- ability to teach secondary Social Studies;

- strong and broad-based teaching background to support teaching in other areas;

- fluently bilingual in French and English language, both oral and written skills;

- training and certification for a variety of outdoor pursuits;

- ability to work as a member of a professional team and a willingness to participate in the experiential learning philosophy;

- excellent interpersonal, communication and collaborative skills working with parents, staff members, consultants and related agencies;

- strong classroom management and organizational skills;

- a knowledge of and sensitivity to the goals and aspirations of First Nation students;

- current First Aid and Class 4 Driver's License, with ability to obtain a Class 2.

This position will require the teacher to travel with students for extended periods and to work a non-traditional school day and year.

Note: This is a temporary teaching assignment for the first semester of the 2008/09 school year.
