Anticipated Staffing - Educational Assistants

In anticipation of vacancies occurring for the 2008/09 school year, the Yukon Department of Education is seeking applications from both male and female candidates interested in becoming an Educational Assistant in the Public School system. These paraprofessionals assist the classroom teacher in implementing Individual Education Plans for students needing assistance in the areas of self care, learning of basic life skills, communication, and socialisation skills to address specific learning and behaviour concerns.

Applicants should demonstrate high school completion supplemented by special training or experience in working with clients with special needs, as well as first aid training. Training and/or experience working with children with severe multi-needs including such areas as FASD and/or Autism Spectrum Disorder, is an asset.  Preference will be given to those candidates who have completed a certified Education Assistant or Exceptionality Workers program.
