Health Profession Education Bursary

Award Amount:

$5,000 annually to a maximum of 4 years health profession education
4 Bursaries per year

Priority Areas:

Dental Therapy/Dietetics-Nutrition/Licensed Practical Nursing/Medical Imaging Technology/Medical Laboratory Technology/Occupational Therapy/Pharmacy/ Physiotherapy/Primary Care-Advanced Paramedic/Rehabilitation-Therapy Aide or Therapy Assistant/Social Work/Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology.

Criteria:

  • Proof of Canadian citizen or landed immigrant status maintained throughout the period of the bursary;
  • Proof of Yukon residency for 3 consecutive years of the past 5 years;
  • Copy of letter of acceptance into an approved health profession education program in Canada. This can be conditional pending final acceptance;
  • Individuals who are presently in a health education program in Canada who meet the eligibility criteria may apply for the bursary for the period remaining in their education.

Documents Req:

  1. Proof of Canadian citizen or landed immigrant status maintained throughout the period of the bursary
  2. Proof of Yukon residency for 3 consecutive years of the past 5 years (i.e. letter from Yukon Health Insurance Service, employer’s note, school principal’s note.)
  3. A letter of acceptance or proof of enrolment in a designated college or university including contact information. A letter of conditional acceptance may be submitted if final acceptance hasn’t been received.
  4. A detailed letter indicating intent to pursue basic baccalaureate education, indicating full time or part time studies, and interest in and/or commitment to health care services through personal, employment, education and volunteer history. The letter should also indicate intention/commitment to work in Yukon on completion of nursing education.
  5. A resume of personal, employment, education and volunteer experience. Reference names and contact information that can be used to verify experience should be included. 
  6. Yukon First Nations applicants who wish to have this factor considered in their selection must provide proof of First Nation citizenship. (i.e. copy of Certificate of Indian status, verification from First Nation)
