To give yourself more options in today's workforce, education beyond high school is highly desirable. For the vast majority of Yukoners, electing to pursue your education beyond high school can be a very expensive decision - travel costs, tuition, books, and accommodation. Although you are primarily responsible for paying for your own education, this guide will assist you to access funds that may make it more affordable.
The Student Financial Assistance Unit has a variety of programs available to help you pay for post secondary education: Yukon Grant, Student Training Allowance, Yukon Excellence Awards, Canada Student Loans and Grants, and a variety of Scholarships.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN
THE YUKON GRANT & STUDENT TRAINING ALLOWANCE?
The Yukon Grant is available for post-secondary studies within and outside of the Yukon while the Student Training Allowance is only valid for studies at Yukon College or an approved Human Resources Development (HRD) training program within the Yukon.
However, if you are studying at Yukon College or in Yukon in an approved HRD program, you may have the option of Training Allowance or Yukon Grant. Please read carefully to see which one would best suit your needs.
