Child and Youth Advocate Office

Child and Youth Advocacy Student

Working as part of the Yukon Child and Youth Advocacy Office, the student will learn the roles of the office and assist as required. The student will learn how to take referrals for individual advocacy and direct calls appropriately. They will assist the Advocate in implementing child advocate processes for child rights resolutions to advocacy issues. The student will work with the Advocate on implementing reviews and research on systemic advocacy issues. The student will work with the team to prepare and deliver public education events and communication activities.

Media Production Assistant

The Media Production Assistant is responsible for supporting media production activities in Yukon, including reviewing and reconciling media production financial reports, writing information to media clients, and providing records management and location photography management.

Assistant Support Technician

The Assistant Support Technician will be tasked with reporting to and assisting ITSS technicians with routine activities including imaging new school and office computers, reimaging current school and office computers, testing/installing software and hardware in both Mac and Windows environments, providing first level technical support on computers, mobile devices, printers and network related troubleshooting, moving of a large number of computers and peripherals both within schools and building to building, keeping track of hardware inventories within schools and/or offices, daily trips to schools including 3 to 5 overnight road trips to Yukon community schools ranging from 2 to 4 days.

Field of study:
Completion of first year or higher in Information Technology OR Computer Science OR Education Technology

Conditions of employment:
Travel, the ability to do routine lifting from 10-50 lbs is necessary

Youth Communications Coordinator

The Youth Communications Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating the Outstanding Youth Achievement Awards (OYAA's) which involves: developing a communication plan; selecting award recipients from submitted nominations; designing, developing posters highlighting achievement of each award recipient; presenting the recipients with their respective award and poster; distributing posters to appropriate locations; and highlighting award recipients on Youth Directorate Website and other media. This position will also be responsible for updating, improving and enhancing the Youth Directorate public websites and assisting Youth Directorate staff with the annual Youth Leadership Training workshop.

Completion of first year or higher in Communications OR Arts (Visual Arts/Graphic Design) OR Marketing

Conditions of employment:
Travel.  First aid is an asset, but not required.

Information and Record Management Analyst

This position will support the functions of the Department of Finance, in particular the Management Board Secretariat, by undertaking projects related to information and records management. The work would involve designing and implementing records management and filing structures and systems, building and maintaining share point sites, creating documentation and training tools, and facilitating training for staff. The work will provide practical experience in project and records management, as well as exposure to government financial management processes. We are looking for motivated individual who is organized, detail oriented and enjoys understanding the relationships between systems and processes.

French Language Services Directorate

Communications Officer

As part of the FLSD Communications and Policy team, the Communications Officer promote French Language services offered by the Government of Yukon mainly through the strategic use of social media. This position: develops and edits French content for YG social media through platform is managed by FLSD (Facebook and Twitter); Monitors all YG English social media, selects the most relevant content to be shared on social media managed by FLSD, coordinates translation, and post French content; maintains an active YG presence in French with the online community by monitoring, responding promptly, and engaging with followers; Coordinate live coverage of special events, press conferences, etc. on social media; captures and post photos and videos of keynote speakers, booth activities, attendees, etc.

Completion of second year or higher in Communications or Marketing or Public Relations

This is a bilingual position. The applicant must have strong written and oral communication skills in French.

Outreach Assistant

The Outreach Assistant will be responsible for organizing constituency meetings and outreach events in collaboration with Members of the Legislative Assembly. The planning, organizing and marketing of these events will be some of the Outreach Assistance main tasks. He or she will also be responsible for recording, researching and following up on concerns raised by constituents during constituency meetings and events.  The Outreach Assistant must maintain appropriate financial records, make travel arrangements and respect allocated budgets for all of it. All events will be organized in collaboration with MLA's and their employees to allow for productive exchanges between constituents in their elected representatives. Event reports must be produced, and the employee may have to perform other office duties occasionally.

The incumbent will work closely with Women's Directorate staff on a variety of projects addressing the strategic goals and objectives of the Women's Directorate. Projects may include work on social media strategies, assistance with public education campaign development, research for Women's Directorate policies and programs and evaluation of current initiatives. The incumbent will work closely with Women's Directorate staff and will liaise with non-government organizations and government officials. This position’s responsibility may include travel to rural Yukon communities.
