The Environmental Technician will be responsible for researching and compiling environmental data from public registries, environmental offices and/or library or internet services. Field sampling and environmental data collection may occur, and this may include (often last minute) out of town travel for a period of up to one week per field trip, staying at remote locations in a camp setting. Editing, formatting, compilation of various environmental reports will also be required, along with manipulating digital environmental data analysis reports. The employee will interact and liaise with clients and/or government regulatory agencies as directed by their supervisor. Other related tasks will also be required and the supervisor will outline these duties as they occur.

Field of study:
Completion of third year or higher in Environmental Science

Conditions of employment:
Driver’s license, travel, shiftwork/weekends. Students will be required to take a drug and alcohol test as a condition of employment due to fieldwork in safety sensitive areas (mine sites, etc.)

The Administrative Assistant for Flight Training Unit will mainly be responsible for interacting with students and customers on the phone and in person, answering inquiries, accepting payments and providing general customer service. In addition, there will be duties involving creating and editing documents, filing basic accounting reports and tracking aircraft usage. The position may occasionally involve light physical work outside moving, fuelling or cleaning aircraft.

The Camp Administrator/Support Staff shall be responsible for the registration of participants, which includes creating invoices, receiving payments, and recording all pertinent information. They will be responsible for correspondence with the public. They will assist with the coordination of participants and volunteers and will oversee the operations of Plan To Protect at Camp Yukon.  The Camp Administrator/Support Staff position includes daytrip’s to camp and also overnight stays at Camp Yukon while programs are operating. The Camp Administrator will support the Director with Camp administration duties, and other duties as assigned, relating to the responsibilities of the position both in the office and at Camp Yukon. The successful candidate will be an energetic, outgoing, mature, motivated self-starter with good oral and written communication skills. They shall possess proficiency in office applications with efficient and accurate record management. They work effectively both independently and as a team member. A positive attitude with the willingness to learn is essential.

The City of Dawson

Under the direction of the CDO, the Planning and Heritage Summer Student is responsible for administration of heritage guidelines on planning, development and land use related to issues in the City of Dawson. The successful candidate should be interested in a career in land-use planning, heritage management, or municipal administration. This position works closely with the Community Development and Planning Officer in order to meet the needs of a unique northern community. The student will assist with development application approvals, implementation of the Heritage Management Plan, and the day-to-day operational requirements of the municipality. The Planning end Heritage Summer Student is a support role with significant opportunity to increase responsibility and build upon tasks when leadership and competency are demonstrated. The successful candidate will gain hands-on, applied knowledge of land-use planning and heritage planning in a municipal context, as a foundation for career in one of these fields.
